Virginia Vo Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

I graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA – Go Bruins! Enrolling in the summer, study abroad program in Paris was unquestionably the most memorable experience I had while in college.  All the places I visited in the City of Love, took my breath away.

Photography is part of history.  We take pictures so that we can preserve and relive the past.  Unless you have discovered the much sought after Fountain of Youth, then you’re probably like me – a person who believes that life is too short…  My favorite professor once said, “I am not sure what else is beyond this but what I do know is that life is all about memories; we need to remember and capture all of the unforgettable memories that makes us who we are today.”  This one liner hit me like an anvil because for someone with a two second memory, these unforgettable memories become forgettable rather quickly.  So it’s important that we capture the essence of time. How can we do this?  Uh ha!  You guessed it.  Yes, the solution is to take lots of pictures!  Not just ordinary pictures, but pictures instilled with life.

Aside from spending time snapping away with my camera to capture the beauty of idyllic moments and seeing life in different perspectives behind various lenses, in my spare time, I enjoy sketching, scrap booking, traveling, playing scrabble, watching movies, bike riding, camping, eating at new restaurants, snowboarding, and hanging out with my hubby, family, and friends.

Random fact:  Those who know me, know that my appetite for trying new food is insatiable.  I would try anything, yes ANYTHING if it’s edible, not just once but twice.  Throw me on Fear Factor and I guarantee, I’ll take the exotic eating challenge course!

This is my domain to share my photos, thoughts, updates and parts of my life!  Let me provide you with a personal and one-of-a kind experience resulting in creative images that encapsulates the joy and beauty of your special moments.  If you like what you see, please feel free to leave a comment or contact me.

Cathy & Phong – Part II

Who could ever forget the G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S white backless dress Cathy wore in Part I? I mean that dress is a show stopper!  But when Cathy had a quick wardrobe change into her vintage chic ensemble…I was just in love all over again! This couple has such great style!  Not only did the outfit change bring a new sense of style and fun, it brought fierceness and passion! rawwrrrrrr!!! Check it out and I bet you’ll agree! :)  Congrats Cathy and Phong!  Can’t wait for your upcoming wedding! xoxo

Cathy & Phong – Part I

We have been good friends with Cathy and Phong for several years now.  Cathy and I clicked from the get-go and had an instant connection – not being drawn to her infectious smile and magnetic personality is like defying gravity.  Strangely enough, my husband, Brian and Phong, appear to be on the same page. Whenever we would have our “girls night”, they would coordinate to have a “boys night” to play basketball and whatever boring boy activities.  Can we call this BROmance?

Cathy and Phong are the sweetest and most generous couple you will come across.  Not only do they light up photogenically, but also they can take over the world with their kindness and sense of fun, yet charming calmness.  If the combination of stunning beauty and pure kindness can kill, this striking couple would be serial murderers. Good people deserve each other and I am glad to be part of not only their engagement shoot, but most importantly, part of their lives.   See you on your wedding day and a lifetime of years to follow.  Cheers.

***The weather was not on our side, but who needs the sun when we have Cathy’s beautiful smile to brighten our day!  :) Our shoot was so much fun and amazing that I couldn’t narrow down to my favorite photos and had to separate the session into two posts! Stay tuned for Part II, you don’t want to miss it! :)

Welcome Baby Jacob!

Congrats to our dear friends Quang and Jenny on their new bundle of joy! XOXO

Wedding: Laura + Hieu

I had the pleasure of second shooting Laura and Hieu’s wedding along side with the talented Kim Le Photography.  This wedding was nothing short of lovely and definitely fit for the sweet couple.  It started out with the traditional-style Vietnamese ceremony, transitioned its way to a goofy yet chic photo session with the wedding party, and ended with a bang at the beautiful reception filled with hundreds of family and friends.  I was elated to have been able to capture their memorable and fun day! :)

Congratulations to the newlyweds and their beautiful love!

The Vu Family

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!  Wishing you and your family a magical holiday season filled with love, memories and all that’s merry! :)

Enjoy what may well be my last photo shoot of 2011!  Kathy is the proud mother of four beautiful girls: Vivian, Kayla, Sophia and Leah and an auntie to the RAD, Timothy!  We took many detours before reaching the promised destination and when we arrived, it was game on for yet another thriller roller coaster ride. The girls were in their own fantasy land made up of Christmas tree heaven.  Right when the girls stepped foot on the pavement, they ran amuck excitedly finding and claiming their desired trees.  When we asked Sophia, the second youngest, why she believed the tree was perfect for her, she innocently replied, “Because it’s my size!” Kids do say the darnest things! :)

Happy Holidays and see you all next year! :)   Enjoy!
