Welcome to my Blog!

I graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA – Go Bruins! Enrolling in the summer, study abroad program in Paris was unquestionably the most memorable experience I had while in college.  All the places I visited in the City of Love, took my breath away.

Photography is part of history.  We take pictures so that we can preserve and relive the past.  Unless you have discovered the much sought after Fountain of Youth, then you’re probably like me – a person who believes that life is too short…  My favorite professor once said, “I am not sure what else is beyond this but what I do know is that life is all about memories; we need to remember and capture all of the unforgettable memories that makes us who we are today.”  This one liner hit me like an anvil because for someone with a two second memory, these unforgettable memories become forgettable rather quickly.  So it’s important that we capture the essence of time. How can we do this?  Uh ha!  You guessed it.  Yes, the solution is to take lots of pictures!  Not just ordinary pictures, but pictures instilled with life.

Aside from spending time snapping away with my camera to capture the beauty of idyllic moments and seeing life in different perspectives behind various lenses, in my spare time, I enjoy sketching, scrap booking, traveling, playing scrabble, watching movies, bike riding, camping, eating at new restaurants, snowboarding, and hanging out with my hubby, family, and friends.

Random fact:  Those who know me, know that my appetite for trying new food is insatiable.  I would try anything, yes ANYTHING if it’s edible, not just once but twice.  Throw me on Fear Factor and I guarantee, I’ll take the exotic eating challenge course!

This is my domain to share my photos, thoughts, updates and parts of my life!  Let me provide you with a personal and one-of-a kind experience resulting in creative images that encapsulates the joy and beauty of your special moments.  If you like what you see, please feel free to leave a comment or contact me.

Engagement: Mimi & Eddie

I remember this day quite vividly…  I was awoken by the sun peeking through the blinds beckoning me to come out to enjoy the beautiful weather.  I am definitely not a morning person so it’s normally a slow and gradual process for me to get up, but that morning was different as I bounced out of bed like a cannon-ball.  I rushed to open the bedroom door only to find instant warmth of the sun on my skin.  I was thrilled that the sun finally came out to play after a whole week of nothing but rain.  Mother Nature was on our side, which made for a perfect engagement shoot. :)

Mimi and Eddie strikingly reminds me of the dynamic duo, Clark Kent and Lois Lane.  They show a well-balanced ease and feed off each other’s energy like no couple I have ever shot for. At first, Eddie was like Clark Kent, reserved and shy, but as the day progressed, he draped the Superman cape and with the help of his inseparable partner, Mimi, they both soared with enthusiasm, humor, and playfulness.  See them display their photogenic talents ranging from boldly sexy to outright silly pictures!

I feel so blessed to be surrounded with such great personalities and my heart smiles outwardly every time I get a chance to meet two people who are just head over heels in love.  Thank you guys for making my job so easy and fun!  I’m really looking forward to your wedding! :D

Wedding: Sara & Abdel

I must say that my first Muslim wedding experience was impressively memorable.  It’s interesting to see that every culture embraces and celebrates weddings differently in a unique kind of way.  Similar to a Vietnamese wedding, this wedding celebration was a whole day event that consisted of lots of eating, laughing, and dancing.  What made this wedding strikingly different from the others was the nonstop pulsating dance floor.  That’s right… I’ve never been to a wedding where people danced the majority of the time all throughout the night.  Now that’s what you call a lively wedding party celebration!!

I owe this experience all to Sara and Abdel who you might remember from one of my previous engagement posts.  This was one of my favorite shoots but I can only share a few images out of respect for Sara and Abdel’s privacy and faith.

Many thanks to the beautiful Bride and Groom for an unforgetable experience!   I had a great time capturing your love and happiness.  :)

Alma & Steve – Part II

Did I ever tell you how much I love the village of Mission San Juan Capistrano?  The location offers so many beautiful backdrops, I can spend the entire day admiring it!  :) I was so glad Alma & Steve decided to break their engagement shoot into two looks!  They had a wardrobe change and their outfits matched so perfectly well with the natural setting.  This was an enjoyable shoot filled with non-stop laughter! :)  Thanks Alma and Steve for an unforgettable shoot and I look forward to your amazing wedding in May! :)

Alma & Steve – Part I

The sun was beaming with such delight on this beautiful Saturday afternoon.  Serendipitously, it was the first sunny weekend since the rainy winter season. Alma and Steve couldn’t have picked a better location for the radiantly blooming weather!

We met at the whimsical village of Mission San Juan Capistrano and I knew immediately after my introduction to Steve, that it was going to be a fun-filled day! I met Alma awhile ago through a referral and was elated when she picked me to photograph their special day.  Alma forewarned me that Steve was not much of a “picture person” and I figured he was like most men who aren’t fond of taking pictures.  Boy was I wrong; the second I pulled my camera from the bag and glanced up, they were both already in model-like positions and ready to strike a pose!

Not only are they a beautiful couple, but they’re also SUPER fun to work with.  I felt like I was at a comedy show because of Steve’s playful antics.  It’s no wonder that Alma is always cheery because Steve is quite the jokester!  Fun times!!! :)  I had such a great time with this love duo that I had to split up their post into two parts!  Stay tuned for Part II!
